The Priory

If you casually stumble upon this club, go right on in

Getting all dressed up and going out on the town with The Priory as your intended destination is not the done thing. This is the sort of club that you end up at after a night perusing the finest pubs the local area has to offer, only to find that you’re now in desperate need of some tunes and a bit of a dance.

Located on the rim of Ealing Broadway; the Priory boasts two floors, relatively cheap drinking and a crowd of fresh-faced late teens and twenty-somethings. The atmosphere is buzzing and it isn’t quite the meat market that it may first appear. Generally, these clubbers seem content to dance and mingle with their friends rather than score so pulling-pressure is at a minimum. Phew! Judging by the look of those queuing up impatiently outside, it’s just a well. Things aren’t quite as scary in the darkness of the club so mistakes can easily be made!

The soft lighting helps to diffuse what can only be described as a glaring pink and pine interior. A few scattered tables at the entrance make for a neat resting area but without a single barstool in sight there's no room for barflies! Mirrors line both the upper and lower level dance floors so you can watch yourself shimmy and keep an eye on your hair which is great (particularly on Fridays and Saturdays) as it can get pretty heaving and sweaty!

Only stay upstairs if you’re (a) a university student and it’s a schoolgirl theme night or (b) you didn’t get enough of the deejay at your last wedding reception, because this floor is the biggest cheesefest if ever you saw one. Head downstairs for funky hip hop, RnB and house party classics. With its underground feel and the talented DJ Wez this level has a nice vibe - albeit a little too crowded - and will provide the perfect chance to let your hair down without inhibition. There’s nothing posy about Priory!

So no, not really the sort of place to meet people or visit regularly but every now and again a big group of friends and a big binge will equal a big funfest, so try it – you have both our blessing and our warning. In other words bring the party with you else there’s not much party at all.
